Trail, Grounds and Facilities Crew
Do you carry your clippers or your machete with you on hikes, trimming blackberry branches as you go? Do you like the idea of giving native plants some breathing room in the forest, saving them from alien invasives? Would you like to see our trails identified with better signage? Or are you manic about weeds? Do you love landscaping and flowers, all the traditional Koke'e garden plants? Are you excited about the interpretive potential of an ethnobotanical garden? Or are you a great handyman, know some carpentry, enjoy sprucing up old country buildings?
In any of these cases, we need you! We're trying to:
- Landscape and maintain the grounds for the Museum and the Souza Center buildings.
- Maintain "The Nature Trail" behind the Museum as a great interpretive walk.
- Renovate the old CCC Camp buildings as the Joseph M. Souza, Jr. Resource Center and Field Station, Kauai's first and only forest research center.
- Work with State Parks in general for trail maintenance.
